Prices for wild Alaskan salmon heading into the European Union are likely to be much higher this season as catch volumes are expected to fall and demand surges, industry players told IntraFish.
In general buyers in the EU are expecting there to be less fish caught this season and therefore higher prices than last year – when there was a record catch – but other factors are also at play.
High Atlantic salmon prices are also causing prices for wild salmon, in particular chum, to rise as well.
