Pacific Andes has put a price tag of $1.7 billion (€1.6 billion) on the Peruvian assets of its China Fishery Group (CFG) subsidiary -- but several Peru-based industry experts canvassed by IntraFish believe it's a far cry from the current value of the company.

Pacific Andes announced earlier this month it was in discussions to sell off its Peruvian operations with two buyers, each willing to pay an enterprise value of $1.7 billion.

At the time, the company had not yet been cleared to pursue the sale, but Monday it reached a deal with key bank lenders to proceed with the process.
