Are some shrimp producing nations trying to buy their way out of a new countervailing duty case brought by US shrimpers in December?
The US International Trade Commission (ITC) voted 5-1Thursday morningto continue its concurrent investigation with the US Department of Commerce (DOC) to see whether to impose punitive duties on billions of dollars of imported shrimp from China, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Ecuador to offset what it said are unfair foreign government subsidies.
The vote clears the way for the case to continue.
