HB Grandi's new fresher sails from Turkey

Engey RE is the first of a series of three trawlers ordered to replace the group's groundfish fleet.

HB Grandi's new fresher trawler, Engey RE, was delivered on March 2 from the Celiktrans Deniz Insaat yard in Turkey.

Engey RE was launched at a ceremony attended by Torfi Thorsteinsson, groundfish manager at HB Grandi, Bjarni Gíslason, fleet manager in charge of the fresher trawlers, and skipper Frioleifur Einarsson, among others.

The trawler is the first of a series of three freshers contracted by HB Grandi with Celiktrans to replace some of the company’s current groundfish fleet.

The other two trawlers -- Akurey AK and Videy RE -- are expected to be delivered in spring 2016 and fall of 2017, respectively.

Engey RE measures 54.75 meters long and 13.5 meters beam.

The main engine is a MAN 6L27 / 38, developing 1,790 kW at 800 rpm and driving a 3,800 millimeters diameter.

It is equipped with SCR Catalysator emission control devices. It has two MAN D2840 LE 301 generators to produce 443kW, as well as a 300kW bow thruster from Brun Voll.
