Guatemala seafood exports jump 44%

The EU accounts for 73 percent of the exports.

Guatemala’s seafood exports hit $18.2 million (€17 million) in the first three months of the year, up by more than $10 million (€9.3 million), or 44 percent, compared with the same period last year, reports Central America Data. 

The main exported species were shrimp, tuna, tilapia and sea bream, mainly to the EU, which accounted for 73 percent of the exports, US with 19 percent, Mexico made up for 7 percent, and Asia and Central America made up for 1 percent of the exports each.
