Regal Springs nabs Peter Hajipieris as new CSR exec

He is the second executive to join the tilapia giant from Nomad Foods after CEO Achim Eichenlaub.

Peter Hajipieris is joining Regal Springs as its new global advisor for CSR, sustainability and external affairs, the company announced Tuesday.

Hajipieris joins the tilapia producer from Nomad Foods Europe where he was group CSR & external affairs director, and prior to that chief technical, sustainability & external affairs officer at Iglo Foods Group, where he led international brand fisheries and food standards and integrated sustainability programs.

Prior to these roles, Hajipieris held cross category commercial and operational roles in technical, quality assurance and sustainability at Tesco Stores and Sainsbury’s Supermarkets in the UK.

Achim Eichenlaub, CEO for Regal Springs, said Hajipieris joins the group with a "great record of achievement in advancing international sustainable fish sourcing and food production standards, something which I have been able to witness first hand."

Hajipieris said "it is a privilege to be part of the exciting challenge of supporting Regal Springs into their next phase of growth and development of which the CSR and sustainability programs are a key part.

"Both Rudi Lamprecht and Magdalena Wallhoff left a tremendous legacy and I know that together with Achim as CEO and the Regal Springs team we will continue to drive the Regals Springs brand story and business forward," he said.

Hajipieris has also made key contributions to the development of responsible aquaculture, Regal Springs said. He was the originator behind the IFFO RS fishmeal and fish oil standard and was the first private industry sector member to be appointed on the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) supervisory board, where he served six years.

He has since led supply chain and multiple brand country market adoption of the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), ASC and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) platforms.
