Seafood veteran Jon Harman dies

Harman retired in March following the diagnosis of a lung-related disease.

Seafood veteran Jon Harman died Sunday, April 16, Sarah Johnson, CEO at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute's (ASMI) PR agency, Lotus, told IntraFish.

Harman retired in March after four years as head of trade relations in Northern Europe for the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, following the diagnosis of a lung condition that deteriorated over the past few weeks, Johnson said.

"Dr Jon Harman died on Sunday 16th April after a short illness," a press release issued by ASMI read.

Harman worked for more than 30 years in different sectors of the seafood industry, and was operations director of Seafish, the UK's seafood industry body, for more than a decade.

"Jon’s enthusiasm for the seafood industry knew no bounds. His sudden death is a shock for us all," said Johnson. "He will be sorely missed."
