VIDEO: Chicken of the Sea marks World Tuna Day

The canned tuna company teamed with a food blogger and put out a new menu of recipes.

Tuesday was World Tuna Day and to mark the day, Thai Union-owned Chicken of the Sea put out an official holiday menu, a Facebook Live event and a tribute to tuna.

Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) created World Tuna Day on May 2 in 2011 to honor international tuna fishing communities and conservation.

The top eight tuna recipes submitted to the Best of the Sea Recipe Challenge are on the Chicken of the Sea Official Mermaid World Tuna Day Menu, made available Tuesday on the Chicken of the Sea website. The top eight were also entered in a random drawing to win a trip for two to Fiji.

Chicken of the Sea also contributed $5,000 (€4,574) to, which helps it monitor global fishery improvement projects (FIPs) and improve functionality and usability of its site.

Food blogger Julie Clark of Tastes from Lizzy T hosted Chicken of the Sea’s Facebook Live event and showcased new twists on classic tuna recipes.
