Ikea expands seafood line, considers standalone eateries

Ikea expanded its food division with two food product lines: the Ikea PS collection and the Sjörapport series, which offers salmon, shrimp and seaweed pearl, according to the Daily Meal.

The salmon is Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certified, the shrimp is currently going through the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification process and the seaweed pearls are made from sustainably harvested kelp, according to the news site.

Michael La Cour, managing director at Ikea Foods, said discussions of standalone eateries is not unusual, according to the news site.

“I firmly believe there is potential. I hope in a few years our customers will be saying, ‘Ikea is a great place to eat -- and, by the way, they also sell some furniture," he said.
