The University of Washington’s Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) is forecasting a run of 38.9 million sockeye in Bristol Bay for the 2024 season.
A run that size would put the salmon harvest in the bay at 26.4 million sockeye, FRI announced in its preliminary 2024 forecast this week.
This forecasted run would be 32 percent below the 10-year average for the bay.
