Russia’s Pacific wild salmon season is almost over and has already become the country’s second-largest harvest in its history.

According to Russia’s federal fishery agency, Rosrybolovstvo, as of Sept. 18, the country’s overall wild salmon harvest across all of Russia’s Far Eastern fishing areas reached 590,000 metric tons.

The figure is 2.3 times higher than this time a year ago, exceeds the original scientific forecast for the salmon season by 15.4
