The Maine lobster fishing industry is preparing for another year of strong demand and good landings, following in the footsteps of last year.

The 2016 industry closed on a high note with demand keeping lobster prices high as fishermen broke a new harvest record.

"Last year we had a fantastic year tipping the scales at 130 million pounds for the first time ever," Annie Tselikis, marketing manager of Maine-based lobster distributor Maine Coast, told IntraFish. "Demand continues to be very strong worldwide."
