Low salmon prices are being felt throughout Alaska as fishermen start to wind down operations in the state.

Mike Mickelson, a commercial fisherman in Prince William Sound currently seining for pink salmon, told IntraFish it has been a discouraging year, given fishermen in both Southeast Alaska and Prince William Sound are being paid only 23 cents per pound for the fish this year.

That is more than a 30 percent drop in price from last year for Southeast fishermen and a nearly 60 percent drop for Prince William Sound fishermen compared to last year.
