Icelandic fishing giant Brim has bought a freezer trawler from Royal Greenland subsidiary Tuukkaq Trawl, for DKK 148 million (€19.9 million/$21.8 million).

The trawler, Tuukkaq, was built in 2001 in Norway and is 66.4 meters long and 14.6 meters wide. The vessel is scheduled to go fishing in September under the name Therney RE-3, said Brim.

Brim is planning to sell its freezer trawler Orfirisey RE-4, the company added.

Last week, Brim announced it is closing one of its groundfish processing plants amid a landscape of lower quotas and "difficult" competition for raw materials.
