Alaska Native corporation, NGO secure $20 million to purchase Bristol Bay land, block Pebble Mine

Alaska Native corporations own almost 7 million acres in Bristol Bay. One of them, the Pedro Bay Corporation, has been working with the Conservation Fund to secure land critical to the state's salmon.

Located in the heart of Bristol Bay in the northeastern end of Iliamna Lake, the easements protect critical habitat for millions of wild salmon and maintain subsistence uses, traditional activities and cultural resources important to the Pedro Bay Corporation and its Alaska Native shareholders.
