Velastro, Newsan joint-venture launches red shrimp trawler
Vessel replaces another trawler that sank in 2003.
Argentine fishing companies Valastro and Newsan are teaming up for the launch of a new vessel targeting red shrimp.
The companies have spent €5.5 million ($6.8 million) on the 37 meter freezer trawler equipped with the latest technology and design under a joint venture, pescare.com.ar reports.
A launch ceremony for the María Alejandro 1 at Spanish shipyard Armon Burela, where the trawler was built, took place last week before it set sail for Buenos Aires, following a series of tests.
The vessel replaces a similarly named trawler which sank in 2003.
