Nueva Pescanova partners with SFP to pursue FIPs, other improvements

Partnership can help the Spanish multinational seek FIPs and other improvements.

Spanish seafood group Nueva Pescanova announced Monday it reached a deal with Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) to help the company improve its access to fishing data and help pave the way for future sustainability initiatives.

The company will use SFP's FishSource database to improve its own data on fishing stocks, and increase its transparency both in harvesting as well as on purchasing both wild and farmed fish.

Nueva Pescanova said it will also use SFP to facilitate industry partnerships on initiatives such as Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) and Aquaculture Improvement Projects (AIPs).
