Spanish firm inks JV with fishing company for vessels, plant

The company also plans to partner with another Spanish firm on a tuna processing plant.

Spanish frozen seafood company Marfrio signed a joint venture agreement for an undisclosed sum to take a majority stake in Uruguayan fishing industry firm Flisnor, which is owned by Galician shipowner Laureano Durán, according to Just-Food.

The deal will help the company increase more of that region's harvest -- possibly more Argentinian cuttlefish -- as the agreement includes eight trawlers, four freezer vessels and one plant, according to the news site.

Marfrio also plans to partner with Spanish company Atunlo to launch a tuna processing plant next year in Portugal.
