Fortune International acquires e-commerce lobster company

The Fortune Fish parent company can get into the e-commerce market.

Fortune Fish & Gourmet parent company Fortune International acquired Chicago-based e-commerce company Lobster Gram, the company said Thursday.

The acquisition allows Fortune International to expand into the national e-commerce market, the company said.

Lobster Gram was started by Dan 'The Lobsterman' Zawacki 30 years ago,

"I have always admired Lobster Gram and how Dan successfully started a live Maine lobster home delivery company from his parents’ garage, now that is entrepreneurship,"says Sean J. O’Scannlain, president and CEO of Fortune International.

"We have always considered entering the e-commerce business given the growth potential and what better way than with an icon like Lobster Gram that shares our commitment to quality service and products."

This is Fortune's fourth acquisition in the past five years. Others have included Coastal Seafoods of MN in 2016, Chef Martin Old World Butcher Shop Sausage in 2014 and JDY Gourmet in 2012.

"I am extremely excited to take the company my team and I built over the last 30 years to a new level with the support, incredible products and guidance Fortune brings to the table," Zawacki said.
