Russian, Chilean authorities in salmon trade talks

Representatives of the Chilean salmon industry and the Russian fisheries agency Rosrybolovstvo are meeting today in Brussels to discuss the terms of salmon trade agreements between both countries.

At the moment, Russian regulations are very strict on the use of certain treatments used to treat diseases such as SRS in Chile compared with regulations in place in other importing areas like the European Union.

Both Chilean exporters and Russian importers claim the strict measures have a negative impact for trade and are working together with Russian authorities to lower the demands.
