The Ecuadorian shrimp sector is expecting a positive 2017, with a 15 percent growth in production and expanding markets, according to Sandro Coglitore of OMARSA.

Ecuador’s shrimp exports reached 64.3 million pounds valued at $199 million (€187.1 million) in January 2017, according to the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA).

This is a 15.6 percent increase compared with the 55.6 million pounds exported in the same period a year earlier, which were valued at around $160 million (€150.47 million).
