Leading health company to give talks

100% protection

A recent study by the company has demonstrated that by adopting a two stage vaccination programme, producers of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) can significantly protect fish from bacterial infection by Vibriosis.

Traditional methods of control have been limited to treatment with the use antibiotics and antimicrobials.

The challenged study evaluated the use of AquaVac Vibrio vaccine provided as an immersion at 1g followed by AquaVac Vibrio Oral as a boost at 3.5 months.

The results, to be presented, show that vaccination of sea bass with AquaVac Vibrio and AquaVac Vibrio Oral provided 100% protection against Vibrio anguillarum 01 following challenge at 28 days post-vaccination.

ERM update

As part of the Farmers Day program to be held on Wednesday, September 17, Dr. Chris Gould, manager global technical services (Salmonids) will present an important update on Enteric Redmouth disease (ERM) in European rainbow trout.

The disease continues to have a significant impact on trout farms throughout Europe. Gould will review the success to date of vaccination programmes for the prevention of the Hagerman Type 1 strain of Y Yersinia ruckeri before continuing to explain how more recent new strains and biogroups such as EX5 prompted the development of the new specific vaccine AquaVac Relera.
