F3 commits to support UN Sustainable Development Goals

The group is pushing toward aquaculture feed innovations.

The F3 Future of Fish Feed Challenge, a collaborative effort between NGOs, researchers and private partnerships to find aquaculture feed alternatives, made a commitment to support the UN's Sustainable Development Goal to "conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources," it said Friday.

The F3 Challenge Team has committed to award the first F3 prize in 2017, launch another challenge this year to "further innovation," hold another stakeholder meeting in 2019 and encourage a International Feed Innovation Network (FIN) that "accelerates innovations to take pressures off wild-caught fisheries so that forage fish, and the higher trophic level, which represent the ocean as we know it, will remain for future generations."
