Open Blue is the single largest supplier of fresh cobia to the United States and Europe. The BRC is the leading trade association for UK retailing.

Although the BRC food safety standard began in the UK, it is now recognized as a global standard.

The next steps for the company include finalization of ISO 9001 with audits completed and a pending audit for achievement of the recently published Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) standard for cobia released at the end of 2016.

"We have been a part of the development of these ASC standards since the beginning,” said Dave Plumer, CEO of Open Blue.

"We expect to complete full ASC compliance by fall 2017."
